is an antidiabetic agent which is composed of insulin lispro a type of insulin
that helps in turning the food that we eat into energy. This action of Humalog
is especially useful for diabetic patients (sugar diabetes) who cannot produce

is a parenteral medicine for injection. It is stored in vials and a syringe is

Humalog Warnings
The
effect of Humalog may be altered if you have any of the following medical

sugar lowers. If this happens, your Humalog dosage should also be lowered.

you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, inform your doctor about it
before deciding to take Humalog. Humalog though has not been reported to cause
birth defects.
Alcohol
drinking may cause severe lowering of blood sugar. Discuss with your doctor if
you are permitted to take alcoholic beverages or not.
Humalog Intake Guidelines

the package insert of insulin and refer to it for instructions on how to
prepare the medicine, on how to properly administer or inject the contents of
the vial, and on how to properly handle the gadgets for injection.
Humalog Dosage
The
dose for patients with diabetes mellitus or sugar diabetes can only be
effectively determined by a doctor. The dosage is based on sugar levels.
Humalog Overdose
Cases
of Humalog overdose are rare because they are not orally administered. If in
case overdose occurs, immediately seek emergency medical attention.
Overdosage
of this medicine can cause hypoglycemia. Symptoms
of hypoglycemia should be immediately treated as patient may pass out
when blood sugar becomes very low.

Humalog Missed Dose
Cases
of Humalog missed doses are also rare. Consult your doctor on what to do when
you have missed a dose.
Humalog Side Effects
The
side effects associated with Humalog include:

Convulsions – these are the most common side
effects of this medicine

Low blood sugar
·
Anxious feeling
·
Headache
·
Excessive hunger
·
Nervousness
·
Slurred speech
·
Tingling in the hands, feet and limbs
·
Dryness of mouth
·
Fast or weak pulse
·
Muscle cramps
·
Nausea
·
Vomiting
·
Shortness of breath
·
Thickening of skin at the place of injection

Wheezing
Other
side effects may also occur but not mentioned above. If any of the said side
effects may occur, immediately consult a doctor or seek emergency medical
attention if the symptoms you feel become intolerable or bothersome.
Humalog Drug Reactions
Inform
your doctor if you are taking beta-adrenergic blockers. The use of
beta-adrenergic blockers together with Humalog is not strongly advised.
