Celebrex (also known as Celecoxib) is a NSAIDs drug (Non-steroidal Anti Inflammatory medicine). As a NSAID drug, Celebrex fights against inflammation, pain or swelling by reducing the amount of substances that cause them.This medication is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), specifically a COX-2 inhibitor, which relieves pain and swelling (inflammation). It is used to treat arthritis, acute pain, and menstrual pain and discomfort. The pain and swelling relief provided by this medication helps you perform more of your normal daily activities.

This drug works by blocking the enzyme in your body that makes prostaglandins. Decreasing prostaglandins helps to reduce pain and swelling.

Celebrex Indications
Celebrex is usually prescribed to patients who suffer from Stiffness, pain or inflammation which may accompany Osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Celebrex helps ease these symptoms while also decreasing the amount of polyps from your body (familial adenomatous polyposis, adenomatous colorectal polyps). Celecoxib is also indicated for patients experiencing acute pain and even menstruation related pains.
Celebrex must be taken in according to your doctor’s recommendations. Therefore, a patient who is following a treatment with Celebrex must take into consideration each and every instruction that their doctor has given them. Every dose of Celebrex should be taken along with a glass of water. A patient who has been prescribed a daily low dosage of the drug may not need to eat food or drink milk prior to the dose’s intake. Before taking celecoxib, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to aspirin, other NSAIDs (such as ibuprofen), other COX-2 inhibitors; or if you have any other allergies. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: asthma (including a history of worsening breathing after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs), liver disease, stomach/intestine/esophagus problems (such as bleeding, ulcers, recurring heartburn), heart disease (such as angina, heart attack), high blood pressure, stroke, blood disorders (such as anemia, bleeding/clotting problems), growths in the nose (nasal polyps).
Kidney problems can sometimes occur with the use of NSAID medications, including celecoxib. Problems are more likely to occur if you are dehydrated, have heart failure or kidney disease, are an older adult, or if you take certain medications (see also Drug Interactions section). Drink plenty of fluids as directed by your doctor to prevent dehydration and tell your doctor right away if you have any unusual change in the amount of urine.with some food or liquids before taking Celebrex, to avoid stomach upsets.
Celebrex Warnings
Celecoxib is known interact with several drugs. You should consult with your doctor if you

are allergic to aspirin
You should inform your doctor in case you are
- smoking
- prone
- experiencing bleeding or ulcers in the stomach

- have ailments
- are suffering from blood coagulation disorders
taking steroid medicines (like prednisone, prednisolone, methylprednisolone, etc.)
taking anti-coagulants.

Celebrex Intake Guidelines
Celebrex is a category C pregnancy drug, meaning that it has not been established whether a treatment with it could harm pregnant women, nor it is known whether it can lead to unwanted birth defects. During the pregnancy’s third trimester a treatment with Celebrex should be avoided. If you are pregnant or are planning to be so soon, you should consult with your doctor before starting a treatment with this drug. The effects of a treatment with Celecoxib are not known in the case of patients younger than 18 years old.
Celebrex Dosage

Celebrex Missed Dose
Even if you miss a Celebrex dose you must not take a double dose. It is recommended that you should continue following your regular treatment schedule.

Celebrex’s side effects include:
Abdominal discomforts and distress
Allergic reactions (like hives, throat constrictions, breathing difficulties, swelling of tongue, lips and mouth).
- Black, tarry or bloody stools.
- Nausea
- Heartburn
- Bloating
- Blood in vomitus
- Water retention
- Unusual weight gain
- General Lethargy
- Rashes or itches
- Flu-like symptoms
- Jaundice
- Abnormal bleeding or bruises
- If you are experiencing these side effects you should stop your treatment with Celebrex and seek medical attention.
- Other milder symptoms are:
- Flatulence
- Diarrhea
- Dizziness
- Insomnia
- Headache
- If you suspect other out of the ordinary side effects you should inform your doctor at once.
- Celebrex Drug Interactions
Before starting a Celebrex Treatment you must inform your physician if you are taking medicines such as:
- Salicylates
- Aspirin
- Cold medications, analgesics (like ibuprofen, ketoprofen, naproxen ), allergy medicines
- Furosemide or other diuretics
- Benazepril or other ACE inhibitors
- Prednisone or other corticosteroids
- Warfarin or other anticoagulants
- fluconazole
- lithium
